Book clubs provide excellent venues for continuing professional development. They are interactive forums for examining new ideas, discussing concepts, prognosticating outcomes and sharing ways to apply the lessons of others within an organization.
The Leadership Book Club meets the 2nd Monday of the month. Participants are responsible for purchasing their own book each month. Facilitated group discussion occurs via our once a month meeting, blogging, etc..
Joining a The Leadership Book Club
A maximum of 20 participants may join our club. To join, watch our website for schedule and registration announcements throughout the year.
The Leadership Book Club offers a premier book club focused on not wasting your time! It includes advanced leaders and the emerging leaders. It focuses on organizational leadership and on issues of interest to aspiring executives and is appropriate for managers seeking new leadership skills.
What We Consider
- What areas do interested club members seek new knowledge, improvement or changes?
- What areas of professional or business development are of interest to everyone?
- What are the personal and/or organizational goals that a book club may help satisfy?
Where to Find Books
A number of potential book sources are available:
- Public libraries are great resources for book club support, and librarians frequently maintain lists of the most popular current titles on various subjects.
- Check the course reading lists for local universities, business colleges and community colleges.
- Contact professional associations for suggestions.
- Ask others what they are reading. A great book may be discovered on the boss’ shelf, or through counterparts at other organizations.
